Research Interests

The development and management of reliability programs to support capability acquisition and sustainment decisions.

What drew you to engineering?

I started my career as a mechanic, and I was always interested in design, development, and maintenance planning. As with all industries the focus was the ability to operate equipment on demand with minimal through life support, and over time I realised reliability is a key component.

What made you decide to come to UMD and the ENRE Program?

Prior to coming to UMD, I worked in capability acquisition for the Australian Government. It seemed that reliability was not considered or well understood. I was selected by my employer to come to the United States to study which will enable me to take this knowledge and apply it to future projects. (It also allowed me to learn American English).

What do you want people to know about Reliability Engineering that they may not know?

Reliability Engineering provides vital information for decision makers of equipment suitability for the full life cycle. The through life costs can be much greater than the initial outlay.

What is a fun fact about yourself?

In my previous life I was a Main Battle Tank (Leopard) mechanic.
