CRR welcomes our visiting Student from Milian Italy.
We're excited to welcome Stefano Marchetti, our new visiting student from Italy, to the CRR!
Stefano is a PhD candidate at the Laboratory of Signal and Risk Analysis (LASAR) in Politecnico di Milano, Italy. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics and a Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering. For his master’s thesis, Stefano developed a framework to assess and optimize the performance of safety barriers in mitigating accidental scenarios caused by extreme natural events.
His current research focuses on dynamic Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA), considering the degradation of safety barriers. This work has applications in chemical facilities, Oil & Gas plants (through ongoing industrial collaborations), and nuclear reactors. During his collaboration with the Systems Risk and Reliability Analysis Lab, Stefano will work on evaluating the safety and reliability of electrolysis for hydrogen production at nuclear power plants.
